First Food Organics, $2.49 (6-pack for $12). Available at www.firstfoodorganics.com.
First Food Organics are a big hit in my household. I always try to purée my own baby food, but as a working mom of three, it’s not always feasible. And I always feel a tinge of guilt when opting for store-bought jars – even when they’re organic! What I love about First Food is that they’re completely guilt-free. With no additives, preservatives, sugar, salt, fillers, etc., it’s basically the food I would make at home, only without the time-consuming prep and messy clean-up.
I also love that they helped me to expand my baby’s eating repertoire beyond the usual five-veggie rotation, with 12 inventive flavors including Apple, Beet & Flax, Savoury Squash & Quinoa, and my baby’s favorite, Sweet Potato, Pear & Chick Pea.
The food – which comes frozen in handy containers you can just pop into your diaper bag on the go – is handmade in small batches with 100% certified organic ingredients and features recyclable or biodegradable, as well as BPA-free packaging.
While they’re a little on the expensive side, it’s worth keeping a stock in your freezer for those busy days when you just don’t have the time (or energy!) to do it yourself.
