Two weeks ago, I gave some tips on how to get your relationship back on track. I suggested the idea of sending your partner a greeting card just because. I want to focus on this tip a little more, because I know first hand how powerful this random act of kindness can be. I decided to take my own advice and send a card to a very well-deserving person.
When the mail came last week, there was a white envelope addressed to my son Jack. He got so excited it was like he was granted backstage passes to The Wiggles. He tore it open and found a card with a picture of my husband and I on the cover. Inside, it read:
Dear Jack, We just want to thank you for being such an incredible boy. You bring such joy to our lives and we're so proud of the person you are. We feel so blessed to have you in our lives and we will love you forever no matter what. Love always, Mommy, Daddy and Scout (our dog).
Even though he's only three, I knew he understood what unconditional love felt like. And because he's only three, the moment came and went like Mischa Barton's new show, The Beautiful Life. But that's OK. The boy knows he's loved. Mission accomplished.
I believe that everyone has the right to feel that kind of love and appreciation just for being. But our feelings often go unexpressed because our egos get in the way, we don't know how to communicate effectively or we get too caught up in our busy lives and we simply forget.
What if I told you there was an easier way?
A dear friend recently told me about an ingenious service that allows you to send a physical greeting card in the mail, but you don't have to leave your house to do it. All that's required is a computer with an internet connection. And the best part is, you can choose from over 12,000 cards in all different categories, and the company prints it, stuffs it, addresses it, stamps it and sends it out all for under $1!
Have you ever done something for someone without expecting anything in return? There's an incredible, empowering feeling that comes with that action. And staying in touch, making connections and nurturing relationships allow you to experience that joy over and over again.
I want you to think of someone special in your life right now who needs to hear from you. It could be your partner, a family member, a client or even you. Click here and send this person a free card now. It's my gift to you. No strings attached. Just because.
