Simple Summer Fun

Sometimes we get so fixated with scheduling activities, play dates and outings that we forget it’s summer – the season to kick back and relax.
We know kids need things to do (although if we let them, they’ll come up with their own crazy games and have an amazing time), but rather than book every minute of the day, go simple. The kids will have just as much fun as they do on those planned days, and you may just remember what it was like to have a carefree summer.
Our 10 favorite simple summer fun:
- Picking fruit from the bush or tree – and eating it right there.
- Kicking a ball in the park or the yard.
- Taking a family bike ride, with picnic stop.
- Visiting local yard sales for a find or two.
- Blowing bubbles.
- Running through the sprinkler.
- “Washing” the car – water + buckets + sponges = fun.
- Watching butterflies, ladybugs and other insects.
- Digging in the dirt – also known as gardening.
- Watching the sunrise or sunset.
Have a great summer!
