About Neige Var
Once upon a time, Neige Var was an operating room nurse and downtown dweller who leisurely spent her time dining out or entertaining friends. The birth of her son changed all that. Now she's a snap-happy suburban mom on unpaid leave with a knack for organizing play dates. Check in with Neige as she continues to adjust to her new role, her new location and her new life.

Sure, chocolate and bunnies have always been a part of my Easter landscape, but I’ve preferred it to play more of a backseat role. Rather, Easter for my family is about religious observance, self-reflection and being among family. And what a better way to drive home these qualities than by attending Kamal’s cousin’s wedding -- a most wonderful introduction to Easter for Nevan, among lots and lots of family.
The wedding will take place in Toronto, so packing for this trip ended up being a lot more trying than anticipated. The last time we traveled to Toronto I ran out of clothes for Nevan and me (due to the fact that he was going through a vomiting stage). As well, this being an Indian wedding, we require many outfits and accessories, for each of the events over the next four days. Then there are the necessary items -- diapers, creams, foods (Neelan as you may recall is quite picky) and there’s always the dilemma over whether to bring one or two strollers. We opted for one, just because we ran out of trunk space.
Now that we are here (it only took two stops and eight hours on the road) I have proceeded to set up our hotel room, to make our stay as clutter- and stress-free as possible. One thing I hate is having to rummage through luggage looking for stuff that either Neelan or Nevan needs. So to preserve my sanity and try to keep organize, I’ve turned the desk into our diaper changing area and have made full use of the drawers and closet space for the boys’ clothes. I invested in some inexpensive hanging toiletry cases from Moutain Equipment Co-op and bought some empty travel-size bottles and jars for the kids’ various soaps, shampoos and lotions. So far it’s been working out well. Kamal doesn’t need to ask me if I have packed this or that, or where things are -- the items are all placed in sight.
Being somewhat organized means less worrying and searching and enables all of us more time to catch up with family and truly enjoy this wedding/Easter weekend.
