Two for the Road

If you are co-parenting, let your partner make their own mistakes. When I first became a mom, I micromanaged my husband and unintentionally made him feel left out of our early parenting days as a result. After all, I was the one who’d read all the books and websites! It wasn’t until a temporary layoff turned him into a stay-at-home dad that I backed off completely. He had to learn pretty fast (and on his own) about the importance of packing snacks and extra diapers, and being on time for sleep times. Now he’s better at it than I am and weekends are easy with both of us on the same page.
