One of the most common complaints from postpartum mommies is neck stiffness. When the muscles of the upper back, shoulders and neck are tight, they cause a burning or aching feeling and can even lead to headaches. Cuddling, rocking, nursing and changing baby often cause us to sacrifice our posture for baby’s sake. When you feel tension in the neck, try this gentle stretch. Sit comfortably and tuck one hand behind your back. With the other hand, gently pull your head downward as you tuck your chin into your chest. Hold 30-40 seconds. Next, turn your head gently toward the underarm of the arm you’re using to stretch. Apply some very mild downward pressure with your hand and tuck your chin. Hold 30-40 seconds. Repeat on opposite side. Be gentle; apply only as much pressure as you need to create a comfortable stretch. Ahhh....
