Happy Birthday, Sesame Street!

Sesame Street: A Celebration -- 40 Years of Life on the Street
By Louise Gikow. Published by Black Dog & Leventhal, $32.96. Available at Indigo Books & Music.
“Impressive” is the first word that comes to mind while flipping through this tribute to Sesame Street’s 40 years. Fascinating, irresistible, page-turning, educational are just a few more. A Celebration is jam-packed with photos, quotes, biographies, scripts, sheet music, fun facts (who knew Feist was debating a career as a puppeteer?) not to mention the history of the show. Also included is a DVD of the first episode and highlights – talk about a trip down memory lane. At 303 pages and the size of a coffee-table book, A Celebration is certainly not light reading, but it is something that will no doubt be treasured forever.

It may be only 16-pages long, but A Walk Down Sesame Street is packed with fun things for kids to do and explore.
