(Jul.15.10)
Whirligigs are delightfully old-fashioned and are a great way to decorate your playhouse. Make a whole row of them for a colorful effect and line them up outside the window or along the edges of the path

leading to the house.
You will need:
15 cm (6 in) square coloured plastic
Ruler
Pen
Craft scissors
Masking tape
Drawing pin
Small, thin bead
Length of thin doweling
Hammer
- Mark and cut an 8 cm (3 in) slit from each corner of the square towards the center.
- Fold each alternate corner into the center and anchor all four corners to this center point using a small piece of masking tape.
- Carefully push the drawing pin through the middle of the masking tape, thread the bead onto the pointed end of the drawing pin and push the pin into the doweling. Use a hammer if necessary. The bead is essential, as it separates the whirligig from the wood, allowing it to spin more easily.
- Once secure, peel the masking tape off and you have a whirligig flower to decorate your playhouse garden. Use contrasting colors of plastic and cut shaped edges to the whirligigs to create a different visual effect.
