It's called your personal life for a reason. If you have an appointment and need to miss work, there’s no need to get into the details. Its sufficient to say that you have an important appointment that can’t be changed. No need to share when it comes to your son’s athlete’s foot or your daughter’s lice. Most of the time, when it comes to missing work or needing some flexibility, it's enough to let your boss know that there are some matters to which you’re attending, without getting too personal.
