* According to new research out of Northwestern University, soy supplements can help breast cancer grow. To be safe, fill your diet with soy-rich foods as opposed to resorting to supplements. [Women's Health]
* Attention pasta lovers! Think that eating pasta on a diet is a no-no? Lucky for you, you're wrong. Apparently cooking your pasta al dente (a little firmer) means that your body has to work harder to digest it and therefore will eat less of it — allowing you to enjoy carbs and continue on with your weight-loss goals.[Glamour.com]
* You probably know the list of negative effects that come with overeating is long, but did you know that it can affect your memory? Researchers at the Mayo Clinic found that elderly men and women who consumed more than 2,143 calories per day had almost double the risk of MCI (mild cognitive impairment) than those who consumed 1,526 calories or less. MCI sometimes precedes Alzheimer's Disease. [Health.com]
* We know that BPA has been linked to cancer but a new study has found it can also be linked to obesity and diabetes. Small doses of the chemical (found in plastics and some food-can lining) can fool the body into creating more fat by scrambling hormones.
