Deco Glam in the Bathroom

Ever since I was a kid, I have LOVED Art Deco style. I can squarely blame both of my grandmothers for this: one was a can-can dancer in Paris in the 1930s who introduced me to the stunningly glam black-and-white musicals of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, while the other was a bombastic antiques dealer who dragged me to church sales and bribed her way to the front of the line to get first dibs on the best junk on sale. I bought my first Deco piece, a diamond-shaped glass-and-alabaster dressing table mirror, at the age of 12 and haven’t looked back since.
The Art Deco look is still synonymous with glamour and a certain chic Old Hollywood style. In my humble opinion, it can look completely fantastic in an interior setting, especially in a bathroom. The other brilliant thing about Deco is that it’s totally easy-peasy to pull off if you keep the palette nice and simple. So think about Fred and Ginger tripping the light fantastic in one of their classic flicks, then put your mind to a palette of black, white and silver and BAM! you’re done.
