I am a card-carrying member of Lampaholics Anonymous, a not-so-secret society of perfectly sane individuals who just happen to be entirely nutso about table lamps. For me, my (ahem) problem comes down to the fact that I cannot resist a good vintage table lamp found somewhere like Goodwill, Value Village or the Sally Ann. If I spy one on the shelf looking all forlorn, it’s all I can do to stop myself from shouting out loud, “YOU are coming home with ME right this second!!!” Needless to say, the house is quite overflowing with lamps of odd provenance that are brimming with quirky style.
There is a method to this madness, and that’s the fact that a cool table lamp can work gangbusters to make a room look fantastic. Take a look at this detail shot of a space by Womack Interiors that features a vintage yellow Murano glass lamp found at Swank Lighting (their line of vintage and new lamps are totally worth oohing and aahing over). Do you think the room would look half as good with a plain old nickel silver table lamp? Nope, I didn’t think so...
