As one of Canada’s top stylists, editors and trend reporters, he is always on the hunt for the next great find that could take a room from blah to spectacular.
Oh, the man cave. You hear stories about guys moving into the garage with a recliner and a beer fridge and they are – errr – happy. But really, can’t we do a bit better than that?
This week I’m all over the Bensington sofa that I spotted in UpCountry. It’s a bit of a fave of mine (I’ve already used it on one magazine shoot) and not only because it’s literally patchworked with a lovely graphic Union Jack. Nope, for me it’s the epitome of man cave chic. The plush button tufted sofa is part of a line called Halo that has totally cornered the market on handsome man-ish furniture. Founded back in the ‘70s by Major Philip Oulton, his son Tim is now designing the collection and is influenced by both his dad’s military background and love of antiques.
So, if you fancy even more Union Jack gear (they also make a matching ottoman), sofas and chairs in a buttery soft antiqued leather, trunks, trunks and more trunks or even a superb hammered aluminum finish that – yep – was inspired by the WWII fighter plane the Spitfire, then it’s definitely worth checking out.
And seriously, it’s all far too cool for the garage.
