About Arren Williams

If Arren Williams were to walk through one of those new scanners at the airport, security personnel might be surprised to see chairs, tables and lamps floating around in his head. As one of Canada’s top stylists, editors and trend reporters, he is always on the hunt for the next great find that could take a room from blah to spectacular.

The Importance of Being English

design diary: crabtree & evelyn soap canada (Mar.23.11)

My apologies  to Oscar Wilde for messing with the title of one of his famous plays, but I’m just back from an event for a real live English institution – Crabtree & Evelyn – and it just seemed too perfect fit. C&E is on my radar since they've popped back into their archives and re-issued some of their most famous soaps in lovely new packaging (take a look at all 9 of the Heritage Soap Collection here) and, if you ask me, they’re a brill option to keep on-hand for a last minute prezzie needed for a housewarming or host/hostess gift and are way more useful than a scented candle – And really, don’t even get me started on those funky (not in a good way) diffuser bottles that have the sticks poking out of them. Buy three of the soaps and Crabtree & Evelyn will pop them into the prettily printed and beribboned box above. Sweet and idiot proof – perfect!

Anyway, the new packaging takes its cue from vintage botanical prints, old fashioned wallpaper and Arts & Crafts influenced prints and includes my new fave, the very fashion-forward black, white and coral patterned Black Sea Mud & Seaweed. The small scale prints C&E has used are currently super hot in fashion and has started to spill over into decor too, so expect to see it showing up in homes soon.

What do you think, are you ready for small scale patterns in your home?
