About Arren Williams

If Arren Williams were to walk through one of those new scanners at the airport, security personnel might be surprised to see chairs, tables and lamps floating around in his head. As one of Canada’s top stylists, editors and trend reporters, he is always on the hunt for the next great find that could take a room from blah to spectacular.

Brick Walled

design diary: faux brick canada (May.04.11)

I’m onto my second photo shoot in the past couple of weeks where we’ve been in need of a brick wall. Really, whatever happened to plain old flat plaster walls? I know the reason why, it’s because brick walls, no matter whether they’re left ‘natural’ or painted, add both an authentic historical feel and oodles of texture to a space.

And now, I’m happy to tell you, brick has become way easier to install in an interior. Check out the nice folks at Century Architexture, who’ve gone to the trouble of casting century-old brick walls and creating pre-engineered wall panels that – relatively speaking – are a snap to install.

Their Century and Distillery styles each come in four natural colours (that’s Distillery above in a colour called Collingwood), but if you ask me I think they look absolutely brilliant painted. Click here to check out my mate Meg Crossley’s basement, and yes, that rather smashing fireplace was made with Century Architexture panels.
