About Arren Williams
If Arren Williams were to walk through one of those new scanners at the airport, security personnel might be surprised to see chairs, tables and lamps floating around in his head. As one of Canada’s top stylists, editors and trend reporters, he is always on the hunt for the next great find that could take a room from blah to spectacular.
Sitting in Acapulco
design diary: acapulco chairs canada
(Jun.08.11)

Back in 2009, a friend of a friend showed up at my door with a truck full of odd looking wire and vinyl chairs...and I fell in love. The Innit Design chairs — called Acapulco Chairs after the Mexican resort town where they were reportedly invented in during the 1950s — have since taken North America by storm, popping up on some of the best patios around, as well as turning up on the pages of big-time mags like Martha Stewart Living.
Yep, they’re definitely outdoor-ready, and come framed in steel and available to order in 9 in-stock vinyl colours but, as part of that whole indoors/outdoors trend, they can also look super cool indoors, too. Think about one with an all-white frame with a seat woven in white vinyl, and how snazzy it would look in an urban living space.
On top of the standard Acapulco Chair, Innit also makes a sweet kid-sized version, as well as a couple of other styles that even include a perfect-for-summer rocker. I’m planning on starting the mega-job of planning our backyard, which’ll include (*gulp*) a couple of deck levels and fencing, as well as a fair bit of landscaping.
So I have my eye on the Acapulco Rocker as the perfect place to sit and enjoy a frosty brew after a sweaty day spent digging in the sun. To order the chairs online click here, or check out their list of retailers here.
Thought that was sweet? You'll enjoy:
