Salt scrubs smooth, soothe and make your skin super soft – but who can afford a spa treatment every night? These Epsom salt scrubs cost less than $5 and are the perfect last-minute Mother’s Day gift for mom (we think it pairs quite nicely with that tub-side glass of Shiraz!).
What You’ll Need
1/2 cup epsom salts (available at most drugstores or dollar stores)
2-3 drops carrier oil (any oil of your choice such as sweet almond, soybean, jojoba or olive oil)
2-3 drops essential oil (try lavender to relax, bergamot to energize or chamomile to soothe)
1-2 drops food colouring
Jars (flip-top canning jars are best because they keep out moisture and save space tub-side
Ribbon
Measuring spoon or small scoop
Directions:
1. Place Epsom salts in a medium-size bowl.
2. Add carrier oil, essential oil and food colouring.
3. Mix with a spoon until salts are moistened and colour is evenly distributed.
4. Spoon into jars.
5. Tie a ribbon around the lid and attach a measuring spoon, small scoop or other spoon.
Tips:
- Match your food colouring to your essential or carrier oils. Try orange for bergamot, yellow for chamomile or light purple for lavender. You can also skip the food colouring (don’t worry, it won’t stain your skin) and opt for the natural colour of the oils.
- If giving as a gift, add a sticker to the top of the jar indicating the carrier and essential oils included (in case your recipient is allergic to any scents).
