Unexpected Glam

OK design peeps. Somehow I’ve ended up back in the bedroom this week, but it totally isn’t my fault.
While researching an upcoming feature for a mag, I stumbled across the Look Book for a firm called
Shine by S.H.O. It’s a really fantastic line of furniture, accessories, lighting and art designed by Susan Hornbeak-Ortiz, and this particular room shot stopped me in my tracks.
I love the way it’s bright and fun, and filled with a sense of personality, and the palette of cream, white, beige and green just pops with that odd little turquoise portrait. To see more of Susan’s personal style, check out a slideshow of her home featured in
Sunset magazine, where you’ll actually see how her bedroom looks regularly (it’s just as cool). To get your hands on some Shine by S.H.O. just drop them a line, since the collection is carried at a few great retailers across Canada.
I thought it would be fun to deconstruct the style for you and pull together kind of a Get The Look for this shot. Let’s start with the wallpaper. That design is Palm Leaves by Cole & Son, which actually comes in eight colours, including a rather nutty red and purple combo.
