Create a Custom Art Wall For Less than $100
style dish: creating a wall collage canada
(Mar.01.11)

I recently stumbled upon this collage of framed wallpaper on the blog Cape27blog.com and have been obsessed with the idea of creating my own custom art wall ever since. Using scraps of wallpaper and a stash of ornate frames picked up in thrift stores (which were spray painted a crisp white), Jessie (the blog's authour) made one pretty great gallery wall. And while this particular version was created for a nursery, there's no reason you couldn't do the same for any other room of the house.
After ditching the idea of spending months (years even!) lovingly collecting said wallpaper samples, I headed over to Design By Color, an amazing website that lets you view about a million different wallpapers, test them in virtual "rooms" and, here's the kicker, order 8x10 samples of your favourite paper for about 75 cents each(!!!).
Since you can view samples by colour, it's easy to find five or six that would work well together. Remember that they don't have to be the same size, and you can always rotate them or add a matte to the frame to make the gallery your own.
Here's an example of six prints that could rock a blue theme:

If you're like me and don't have the patience to find frames like the beautiful ones Jessie used, IKEA is a great one-stop shop for inexpensive options.
