Skip the store-bought gift tags and make your own handmade tags instead.
Directions (clockwise from top left):
Black-and-White
Swap the traditional tag for regular paper. Print out the recipient name using a labelmaker.
All Natural
Spray paint or paint the tips of a pinecone with sparkly silver paint. Let it dry, then remove the leaves, and using a glue gun, attach to white cardstock in the shape of a tree.
Snowflake
Trace the shape of a snowflake onto white cardstock and cut out. Use a polka-dot stamp or make your own by dipping the eraser on the top of a pencil in ink and creating "snow" on the tag.
Cinnamon Stick
Tie a ribbon around a cinnamon stick and affix to white cardstock tag using a glue gun.
Cookie Cutter
We saw this one in the holiday issue of Martha Stewart Living and fell in love. Trace a gingerbread cookie cutter on patterned paper and cut out, then glue to the thick side of the cutter using a glue gun. Tip: This tag doubles as a tree ornament.
Punch a hole in the top of each tag and tie a ribbon to finish the tag.
