About Chantel Simmons
Some girls dream of walk-in shoe closets. Chantel dreams of walk-in craft closets. A former crafter for HGTV, Chantel's now sharing her project plans with you. Check back every Friday as she offers up an easy-to-make or easy-to-bake craft you can give to a friend or keep for yourself.
New lampshades can set you back $100—or more. But this simple project is an easy way to give a basic white lampshade a person touch – and make it look like it was hand-picked for your bedroom, living room or den. Plus, if you save pretty fabric ribbon from gifts you get and give, this project is free!
What You’ll Need
Ribbon in a complementary colour to your décor
Scissors
Double-sided tape or glue
Pencil
Directions
1. Take strip of ribbon and wrap it around base of lampshade.
2. Using your pencil, make a small line where you’ll cut the ribbon to fit.
3. Cut ribbon, then add a dab of glue or piece of double-sided tape to secure in place. Voila!
Tip: If using two different colours on each shade, choose varying widths for interest.
