It’s almost Valentine’s Day and if you had every intention of
making your own valentine, but life got in the way, you can still add a touch of personality and thought to your store-bought card with these two envelope ideas.
Easy Heart Fastener
What You’ll Need
Envelope
Scissors
Thin ribbon
2 heart-shaped buttons
Glue gun
Directions:
1. Glue one button to the peak of the flap and one about an inch below, on the envelope.
2. Cut a two-inch piece of ribbon and loop it around the two buttons, then tie in a knot.
Homemade Heart Envelope
What You’ll Need
Two rectangular pieces of paper (in two different colours)
Scissors
Pencil
Directions
1. Fold each piece of paper in half, lengthwise.
2. Draw half an oval on each piece of paper, starting from the fold.
3. Draw four lines from the fold close to the edge of the oval, evenly spaced.
4. Cut out the half-oval and cut along the four lines.
5. Feed one half of the heart through the other following this pattern:
a) Strip #1: go over the first strip, then through the second strip, then over the third strip, then through the fourth strip.
b) Strip #2: go through the first strip, then over the second strip, then through the third strip, then over the fourth strip.
c) Strip #4: go over the first strip, then through the second strip, then over the third strip, then through the fourth strip.
d) Strip #4: go through the first strip, then over the second strip, then through the third strip, then over the fourth strip.
6. Adjust the two halves to form the perfect heart-shape. The back of the heart should be open, and you can slip your card inside, then seal it with a dab of glue.
