Home Sweet Herbs
make-it session canada
(Jun.04.10)
This herb garden looks lovely in front of a kitchen window or as a centrepiece for a casual backyard dinner. The best part? You won’t need a mortgage to get the white picket fence you’ve always wanted!

What You’ll Need:
Wooden box or crate (available at Dollarama or Michael’s)
3 packages (about 60) of white plastic or wooden plant labels (white plastic labels available at The Home Depot)
White spray paint
Glue gun
Herbs
Large plastic Ziploc bag
Permanent marker
Directions:
- Paint the wooden box with white spray paint (make sure to cover your workspace with lots of newspaper). Let dry. FYI: It doesn’t need to be a perfect paint job, since you’ll be covering the box with your “fencing.”
- If plant labels are made of unpainted wood, spray-paint both sides and let dry. Glue labels to box exterior with points facing up.
- Line box with Ziploc bag.
- Place herbs in container.
- Write names of herbs with permanent marker on extra plant labels and stick into soil.
Tip: Be sure to use waterproof paint if you’re going to put the container outside.
