Known as the "Green Fairy" and imbibed by the likes of Toulouse-Lautrec and Verlaine, absinthe has a long history of inspiring artists and poets.
But after its reputation for causing madness got the spirit banned in the early part of the century, it disappeared from shops and cafés in a wisp of green smoke.
Now it's back. As of 2008, there are more than 200 brands of absinthe worldwide. And when a bottle of Lucid Absinthe landed on our desk, we just had to give it a spin.
