Camp It Up

ask an expert: camping checklistcanada (Jul.27.10)

I'm planning my first camping trip this summer. What do I need to bring?

Jill P. emailed us at expert@sweetspot.ca, and Ontario Parks expert Don Bucholtz answered:

Park staff are usually campers themselves, but we still learn from the thousands of campers passing through our parks each year. Many use checklists as a good way to keep track of what to bring. Keeping an electronic version of the list and adding to it right after your camping experience will help you to build a comprehensive list based on your own needs.

This list has been built over many years by an experienced and avid Ontario Parks camping family. Feel free to use it and add or delete items based on your personal experiences.

Don Bucholtz has been the Park Superintendent at Sandbanks Provincial Park since 1987, and has been with Ontario Parks since 1980. A longtime camper himself, Don has car-camped in four provinces.
