Aloha! I’m just back from an amazing vacation to Hawaii. Two dear friends of mine, Val and Bill, decided to tie the knot. When it came to their wedding they decided to go low key, (thankfully) wanting to avoid an overdone, fussy and stressful wedding. This vibe worked perfectly for the beachside wedding—the Hawaiian landscape and a gorgeous bride and groom were “décor" enough.
But for the reception, mon dieu! Val, the bride, is a stylish as they come. I’ve actually learned a ton from her on how to style, craft and do-it-myself. And Bill, the groom, is so good at planning parties (themed bars, drinks and games) that he has inspired not one but two of my Cityline segments. So when the couple said no décor for the reception, myself and their (seriously stylish) family decided to step in. I mean every party needs a splash of décor, even those thrown at a gorgeous house in Kona. We made a few trips to the hardware store, Target and Costco and in no time at all had put together a wedding look that was pure tropical chic!
If you are looking to DIY your own wedding I hope you can grab a few tips from Val and Bill’s.
