The Best Lunch Bags for Grown Ups

home slice: grown-up lunch bags canada (Sep.06.11)

I'll admit it. I'm a little jealous of all the back-to-schoolers out there. I used to love packing my knapsack and choosing out my clothes for the first big day back,  so it's only natural that I'm looking for grown-up ways to celebrate the season. (Even if I'm way too old to get on a school bus.)

Last week, I told you all about how I like to get organized for the season (classroom-bound or not), and this year I'm taking a solemn vow to be better at bringing my lunch with me.  I'm always whipping something up, so my fridge is stocked with a dizzying array of leftovers to bring with me to work. The problem is always how to get them from point A. to point B.

If you're like me, a brown bag just won't do. So I've been sleuthing the scene for the very prettiest lunch bags around. Here's what's currently topping my lunch-box wishlist:

For Better or For Purse

Why settle for a lunch bag when you can opt for a lunch purse? This stellar neoprene number stretches to fit whatever you pack, and features a handy pocket for condiments (or treats).

Built Girard Lunch Purse, $50. Available at www.neatspace.ca.

Rest on Your Florals

It may look like a chic handbag, but it's really a lunch tote in disguise. This bag would definitely inspire me to pack a perfectly beautiful meal to match.

Elle Megan Lunch Bag, $30. Available at www.amazon.ca.

Never Forget

I've been known to leave my lunch on the kitchen counter, but with this cute design to remind me, I'll never forget to take it with me again.

Don't Forget Me Lunch Bag, $21. Available at www.etsy.com.

Stack to It

With its ingenious stacking trays and snapping lids, this bento box packs a whopping amount of food into a tiny amount of space.

Little Bento Box, US $24. Available at www.plastica.com.

Swing Step

I love that this lunch system features small containers to keep food separate and fresh, and that the collapsible water bottle pocket will make stashing my water bottle totally painless.

Urban Swing Lunch Kit 2.0, $47. Available at www.laptoplunches.com.
