The Notebook

handmade with style: custom notebook canada (Apr.22.11)

Whenever I leave the house, I make sure to stash a mini notebook in my bag. Since I carry one with me on a daily basis I thought I would jazz it up a bit by adding a fun fabric cover. This notebook project is also a great gift idea.

What you’ll need:

-Notebook journals (I used Moleskin)
-Fabric (slightly larger than the size of your journal when it’s open)
-Double sided fusible webbing
-Iron and ironing board
-Scissors

Directions:

1. Cut a piece of your fusible webbing the same size as your journal when it is open and lying flat.

2. Iron the fusible webbing onto the wrong side of your fabric following the instructions on your package. Once the fusible webbing and fabric are attached together, peel the paper backing off of the webbing.

3. Next, place the journal onto the sticky side of the fusible webbing and make sure the fabric is centred and crease free.

4. Close the journal and using your hot iron carefully iron the spine. Once the fabric is attached to the spine of the journal, iron the rest the fabric in small sections to adhere the fabric to the journal.

5. Trim off any access fabric.

6. Lastly, iron all the edges to make sure it has completely adhered.
