A Royal Bag
handmade with style: crowned canvas shopping bag canada
(Apr.29.11)
When I was trying to think of a project I could make that was inspired by the Royal Wedding, I wanted to make sure it was something that I could use on a regular basis. I decided to make a Royal-themed shopping bag since this is something we all need and use often. This project was easy (check!), super quick (check!) and looks cute (check!).
What you’ll need:
- Canvas bag
- Iron-on transferable paper
- Clip art
- Scissors
- Iron
- Cotton cloth
Directions:
1. Find a crown or image you like on the internet and play around with the size of the image. Be sure to do a few test print outs to make sure the size is correct. Once you’ve decided on the size, print out your image on the transferable paper.
Tip: Try to find an image that is completely solid like the one in the picture above. This will give you a professional looking end result.
2. Carefully cut out your image, closely following the outline.
3. Iron your bag to smooth out any creases.
4. Remove the backing on the transferable paper and carefully place your image face up in the centre of your bag.
5. Lay a cotton cloth over top of your image and iron the area for 10 seconds.
6. Allow everything to cool completely before removing the cotton cloth.
