Make Personalized Holiday Gift Tags
handmade with style: embossed gift tags canada
(Nov.21.11)
The holiday season is right around the corner so I decided to get a head start on some handmade details. I wanted to try out something new this year and came up with these embossed holiday gift tags.
You’ll Need:
Embossing powder
Embossing ink pad in white
Heat gun
Coloured paper
Selection of stamps
Hole punch
Twine or ribbon
Directions:
- Cut out the shapes for the gift tags. For the shipping tag look, cut a rectangle and snip off the corners on one end. Next punch a hole in the middle of the end with the cut off corners. For a circle tag, cut a large circle using a lid as a template (or alternatively you can use a circle punch if you have one on hand) and punch a hole through the top of the circle.
- Choose the layout and stamps you are going to use for each tag.
- Lay a piece of paper underneath your tags for easy clean up. Press the stamp onto the ink pad and carefully stamp your tags. Be sure to press down firmly over the entire stamp.
- Sprinkle the embossing powder onto your tag allowing it to stick to the inked areas. Shake off the excess. You can pour the excess back into the embossing powder jar.
- Carefully use the heat gun to heat the powdered areas for about five to ten seconds. You’ll notice the powder will solidify and rise.
- Set aside to dry and then loop your twine or ribbon into the gift tag holes.
