Make an Adorable Cookie-Mix Jar
handmade with style: DIY cookie mix canada
(Nov.25.11)
I'm a huge lover of baked goods and a fan of homemade gifts, so why not combine the two? Add the ingredients of your favourite cookie recipe in a jar and give it to someone special. Not only is this gift idea incredibly cost effective, but it has a cute personal touch as well!
You'll Need:
1 litre glass jar
Ribbon
Cardstock
Hole punch
Twine
Wooden spoon
Cookie ingredients
Directions:
1. Pick your favourite cookie recipe. Keep in mind that you will be layering the ingredients in the jar so you want to pick a recipe that incorporates different colours and textures. I chose oatmeal chocolate chip and replaced the chocolate chips with brightly coloured M&M's.
2. Begin layering the ingredients for the cookies. Keep in mind ingredients such as sugar and flour tend to seep through ingredients like oats and chocolate chips. You'll want to place these ingredients near the bottom of the jar. Press each layer down very firmly with your fingers.
3. Once all the ingredients are in the jar tie the ribbon around the jar and finish off in a knot or a bow.
4. Tuck in the measuring spoon.
5. Make a quick gift tag by cutting out a rectangle from cardstock. Snip off two ends and punch a hole in the middle of the snipped off end.
6. Write the baking instructions on the gift tag. Be sure to include the measurements for the wet ingredients. Tie the gift tag onto the ribbon using twine.
