Keeping Cool

sarah's space canada (Jun.25.09)

Summer is here and in Toronto it is H-O-T. Being a bit one-track minded when it comes to my personal comfort, all I can think about right now is how to keep cool. Here are some of the ways I plan to chill out this summer...

Breyers Double Churn Ice Cream

I taste-tested the new bakery-inspired flavours and my freezer will not be without Chocolate Cheesecake ($7.49, available at various retailers across Canada) again. Mmm.

Strawberry Jive

With strawberry season in full swing, I think I'll switch from mojitos for a while to this tasty refresher.

Pink Lemonade Ice Cream Squares

I’m always looking for new summer desserts to try, and I love that this recipe combines two of my favourite summer staples. Thanks, Chatelaine!

Asian Chicken Salad

A no-cook dinner option? I think I’ll buy a pre-cooked chicken every week and eat this salad every day! (Get more supper salad recipes!)

Glass Sake Bottle

I love that this will keep my bevvies cold without diluting. Not just for sake, this pitcher (US$60, www.uncommongoods.com) is an essential.

Wine Chiller

I’m a stickler for the details but that doesn’t mean I can’t be forgetful. This chiller ($190, Crate and Barrel) will have my wine ready in 25 minutes or less. Hallelujah!

Cool Bar Cocktail Table

While I don’t have any outdoor space (boo hoo!), I know lots of you do. Thought you’d enjoy this bar table ($80, www.costco.ca) as an alternative to an unsightly cooler on your deck.

I’d love to know how you’re keep cool this summer. I’m especially interested in trying no-cook recipes. Share your favourites (or something you’d like to try) and I’ll test them out! Just leave a comment below.

Thought that was sweet? Here are three more ways to keep cool:
