Getting Spicy

organic herbs and spicesCalgary, Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver (Apr.02.08)

The recent Spice Girls reunion totally inspired us. No, not to stop eating and dress in stage-wear spandex — but to spice up our lives.

We’re taking the easy route with new online shopping from The Spice Trader (we don’t want to risk getting too spicy only to be tagged in awkward Facebook pics).

The organic herbs and spices from our favourite Toronto spice store are now available everywhere. We’re starting with the Spices by Cuisine (with five countries to choose from, things like Moroccan cooking are suddenly a lot less intimidating). Then, to keep it simple we’re picking up a tin box Collection ($39.50-$65) for an instant spice rack upgrade. Add a pinch of Salt (14 different kinds including pink, black and vanilla-infused) and we’re pretty much covered for our every culinary need.

Refills and random one-offs come easy with individual options in whole or ground (from $5.25) and we’re not starting BBQ season without the ultimate Steak Rub ($6.95). (We’re hard-pressed to even start our mornings without real Vanilla Beans, $6.50, in our yogurt.)

But we’re still not sure how to zig-a-zig-ahhh.
