Get Down and Boogie

Psst…we’ve got a secret.
Are you listening?
Shhh, get down and keep this on the low. There’s a neighbourhood restaurant that flies below the radar and makes burgers so good, even hold-the-beef types enjoy. It’s called Boogies Burgers. But to find it, you need to know someone in the know.

And that would be us (we flirted with the cable guy…).
Probably Calgary’s best hidden, family-run eatery, this local gem features its original 1960s-style diner counter, a wallpapered dining room holding a handful of tables, a TV, an aquarium and even an old Ms. Pac Man machine (sadly, not in use). And the burgers: Those are made from scratch.
Boogies’ burgers arrive in buns the size of your face. Most are named after staff and die-hard customers, like Shawn who inspired an artery-clogging, triple-beef-patty burger topped with an egg, cheese and mushrooms, weighing in at 1.2 pounds. For those less caloric-inclined, there’s the Fay ($5.50), a quarter-pound beef patty with fried mushrooms and onions or the Noelle ($4.70), a vegetarian version. But don’t even get us started on the sweet potato fries ($2.10)…
Proof is in the patty, that good things come from flirting with the cable guy.
