Calling all women who:
1. Enjoy fine dining and drinking;
2. Wished they'd seen NYC in the Jazz Age;
3. Like the theatre, drinking martinis or rubbing elbows with the glitterati.
Juilliard's the place for you.
No, not that Juilliard. (Unless you're looking to move to New York and have a Fame moment.)
Let us introduce Juilliard Restaurant and Lounge. Set in posh digs at an historic building kitty-corner to the Centre for the Performing Arts, this new gem is where local playwrights, actors and theatre-goers head for a quaff and a nibble pre- and post-show.
Inside, the décor comes straight from the pages of an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel: High ceilings, polished concrete floors, mahogany furnishings and a large curved bar complete with a white-shirted bartender polishing glasses.
We called out "bravo, bravo" when we saw the menu: An eclectic mix of European tapas, American comfort foods and strange things we'd never seen before, like duck confit and ricotta crepes ($9), lamb-and-fig ravioli ($15) and calamari stuffed with chorizo, puttanesca greens and daikon radish slaw ($13). For the less avant-garde, we suggest miso-marinated salmon ($25) or one of the many artisan burgers ($15).
Whatever you try, this place is worth an encore (and an encore and an encore...).
