  1. Best Group Dance: Arthur Murray Dance Centre

    Learn to foxtrot, samba, or waltz, and laugh off your missteps with friends in the company's many group ballroom classes. Introductory program (a total of 8 sessions) $321.00.

  2. Classical ballet: Alberta Ballet School of Dance

    Who says you have to start at age three in order to earn prima ballerina status? The school's adult classes (for little to no experience or training) will turn you into the next Karen Kain. (Or, like us, her slightly less flexible and graceful cousins.) $215 for 16-week sessions.

    Ever wanted to learn West African or Modern dance? What about Caribbean or Bollywood? Besides the usual flavours of dance (tap, jazz, ballet), stepping outside the box is the (unbelievably fun!) motto here. $170-$280 for 14-week winter session.

  4. Dirty dancing: Mambo Productions

    Round up someone to be the Johnny Castle to your Baby, and get those pelvises twisting and turning and grinding in the Salsa, Mambo, Merengue, Bachata and more. Foreplay never felt so spicy. 6-week classes $85 and up.

  5. Competitive spirit: The Studio School of Dance

    Here, the stables of ballroom dance instructors are former champions and pros. If your dreams resemble an episode of Dancing With the Stars, learn to hoof it here and register for one of the dozens of competitions the school takes part in throughout the season.
    $30-$90 for 2-6 week sessions, drop-in and private lesson rates available as well.
