As our March review of Obakki's spring/summer line stated, we might be a bit biased. We're objective journalists here, but when a line is beautiful and happens to be designed by a former Albertan, we're willing to add a few bonus points. Treana Peake, now based in Vancouver, hails from Hanna, Alberta and is the designer behind the hot label.
Not only does she create beautiful and whimsical fashions, Peake is also known for giving back and supporting humanitarian causes in developing countries through the Obakki Foundation.
One of the foundation's current projects is the drilling of 200 water wells in South Sudan and in support of it, the Foundation launched the Rainmaker Auction on eBay yesterday. Every day, a new batch of items will be released until Nov. 14th and you can go on the site and bid to your heart's content. Most of the items are music or sports memorabilia including signed Taylor Swift and Ozzy Osbourne guitars and autographed Beyoncé and Katy Perry posters (see below) to name just a few, but there are also VIP concert packages for a couple of different bands, as well as a stay on Bodega Ridge Resort on Galiano Island in B.C.
I love the idea of bidding on something for a Christmas gift. Can you imagine the reaction Christmas morning when your tween niece and Taylor Swift's biggest fan opens a signed guitar?
So go, bid away for the very good cause, but stay away from the Galiano Island package, I want that one for myself.
Get bidding here and check back daily for new items.
