French fashion designer Isabel Marant epitomizes Parisian cool. Editors love her, models "off-duty" adore her, and most of the fashion world wants to be her, myself included (especially after reading about her incredibly charming cottage in the woods in a recent issue of T, The New York Times Style Magazine). Marant designs uber cool clothing, slightly tomboy with a subtle sexiness, that every girl wants to wear. The problem is, her pieces are pricey and not very accessible to those of us with budgets.
So I can't tell you how excited I am about the limited edition Isabel Marant for Gap's (RED) project T-shirt. To mark Worlds AIDS Day 2011, the T-shirt will be available Nov. 28th for $39.95 at only four Gap locations in Canada including Calgary's Chinook Centre (the other locations include Toronto Eaton Centre and Bloor Street in Toronto, and Montreal Eaton Centre). This is exciting news in itself since Calgary rarely gets blessed with fashion collaborations (ahem, H&M).
The colourful print is simple but at the same time, striking, reminiscent of the beautiful and psychedelic images you'd see through a kaleidoscope as a kid. Plus, a girl can't have enough grey T-shirts, especially when 50 per cent of proceeds from this one go to the Global Fund to help eliminate AIDS in Africa.
So early next week, add a little Isabel to your wardrobe (I'm going to) or if you know a fashionista out there that's been dying for a Marant piece, it's really the least you could do to fulfill the dream.
