I just returned from a glorious vacation in Bali and Singapore. Although I am one of these people who has a hard time letting go and leaving work behind, I am proud to say that I was somewhat successful this time and only checked my e-mail a few times. And when my thoughts turned to work/story ideas, I allowed myself a few minutes to think about it/them and that was it for the day. As most writers and creative types will tell you, it's hard to turn off the idea machine in your brain no matter how hard you try, and although it can be frustrating, it's also not a bad thing. It means, after all, that you must love you job if you're always looking at the world in search of the next great story.
It was therefore lovely and sweet (sorry) when every once in a while on our trip I would come across a reminder about a job that I was looking forward to coming back to. Although we were in Singapore only a few days, on three different occasions I came across three different "sweet spots." There was the dessert stall in Glutton's Bay (top photo below) and the two different sign spottings in the Marina Bay Sands.

And speaking of international name association, "Prada" is apparently also a popular brand name at the Denpasar International Airport in Bali. I could totally see Miuccia sitting on one of those comfy chairs, getting a reflexology treatment before her flight.
