With our warrior pose perfected and our new fall wardrobe nearly complete, we felt life was pretty sweet. But there’s always room for more…
La Cornetteria, a new café and pastry shop that has opened its doors in little Italy, has brought us Italia’s famous breakfast specialty: the cornetto ($2.50 ea. / $14 for six). These baked delights perfected by the shop’s very own Florentine baker, Stefano Cicali, can be eaten in their original form or stuffed with some of the most delicious ingredients. With fillings ranging from ricotta with whip cream, to custard, jams and almond (the house specialty), we couldn’t wait to try them all.
And there was no questioning where we would start when we saw chocolate on the menu. The heavenly mix of flakey dough with luscious, hand piped, soft chocolate sent us on an instant Roman holiday. Licking the last crumbs off our plate, we quickly began to plan how we could get more cornetti into our lives (and stomachs).
With La Cornetteria, life is now truly sweet.
