We’ve been staring at that ominous black box on Ste-Catherine Street for months, and we’re getting a little obsessed with it. When will it open and make the jump from mystery apple of our eye to our newest shopping destination? Apple

Now all that’s left to do is countdown the hours. At 5pm today, downtown Montreal’s first Apple store will make its grand opening. A Canadian flagship, this two-floor emporium of all things sleek and tech-savvy opens its doors. Black box be gone: Hello architectural delight.

Straight to the brand new iPhone 3G for a test drive/call. Plus plenty more gadgets to grab our attention like the envelope-thin Macbook Air ($1899-$2748) and the iPod Touch ($319-$519). Or if we’re just looking to score our next lunch bag, the Nike + iPod Sport Kit ($39) might be more budget friendly.

While we’re perusing, we’ll be sure to check out the Genius Bar for hands on technical support on the second floor and become a One to One member ($99) for year round training sessions. And we’ll definitely be back tomorrow for the live performance by The Stills.

You know what they say: an apple a day…we think we’ve found our new daily habit.
