Chocolate, cupcakes, old school goodies and more, some say a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down. We say a bag full of sweets is just plain necessary, medicine or not (they don’t call us Sweetspot for nothing). This week’s Best Of sweets list will put a happy (if not slightly giddy) smile on you face.

Anyone who can infuse olive oil, balsamic vinegar and cigar leaves (among other delicious ingredients such as maple butter and chai) with real dark chocolate and make it taste like a little piece of heaven is our hero.

Moist, fluffy and covered in icing. We are, of course, referring to some of the best cupcakes in the city. With a box of Cocoa Locale’s signature chai cupcakes in tow, we are fast becoming the most popular party guest on the circuit.
Old school treats: Sucrebleu Candies

For jelly beans, fudge and even the friendliest of candies, PEZ, this place is chalked full of stuff you thought went out of production when you became a teenager.

We say chocolate-covered pretzels are underrated. As are gummie bears. Get a bag of both and plenty of other candies at this self-help bobonnière, as in, help yourself.

We like to mix and match Smarties and Reese’s Pieces but, really, the choice is up to you and there is plenty of it. Sesame snacks, dried fruit, licorice and candies, stock up on as many goodies you can fit in your purse at Scoops.
