Anniversary Spots for Every Twosome Occasion

Montreal (Dec.04.06)

For all the hand-holding, kissy-faced couples (including hopeful singles wanting to be in-the-know for future embraces), we know you want to know where to go to get it on. Oh, we're not talking hotel-motel pump and grind, rather, hot spots that you and your beau can frequent to celebrate the moment (how you do so, is up to you). Create your own romantic memories at these Best Of anniversary spots built for two...

  1. One Month Dating: Monkland Tavern

  2. 5555 Monkland Ave.; 514-486-5768
There's always a good crowd at this NDG resto and it's perfect for drifting off into your own world, staring into each other's eyes all night and reveling in the honeymoon stage that is so particular to the first month of dating. Opt for the butternut squash-stuffed ravioli ($14) and you won't have to worry about getting something stuck in your teeth.

  3. Three Month Make It Or Break It: Garde Manger

  4. 408 St-François Xavier St.; 514-678-5044
Whether you're entering into serious relationship territory or have decided that you're just not that into him, Garde Manger is an enticing social scene that will still make you feel at ease. Sit back, relax, and chow down on oysters if he's a keeper, or the bavette and fries ($20) if he's not.

  5. One Year Dating: Mont-Royal

  6. When was the last time you drove up the mountain to watch the sun come up? If you were wearing taffeta and borrowed your sister's I.D., it doesn't count. High school graduation was a long time ago. Grab a bottle of bubbly, rent a limo and make-out in the back seat until the first rays of daylight.

  7. Five Years Married: Version

  8. 295 St-Paul St. E.; 514-871-9135; www.version-restaurant.com
If you've enjoyed each other for five years, then you will adore each other even more at Version. It's an adventure in gastronomy; enter it together. Each course offers something out of the ordinary and the combination of flavours is at times surprisingly yummy. The roasted salmon with asparagus milk and truffle oil (around $30) is no exception.

  9. Ten Years Married: Garçon

  10. 1112 Sherbrooke St. W.; 514-843-4000; www.restaurantgarcon.com
If ever there was a time to go to a restaurant with a sommelier (a very helpful one at that), celebrating ten years of marriage would be the time. Go all out and celebrate with delicious food and fantastic service. The pan-seared scallops are a work of art and taste accordingly ($36). Don't forget to wear your party dress.
