Call it the curse of the foodie.
After indulging in dishes of foam this and puree that, we’ve finally hit the breaking point. No longer will we succumb to the myth of two-bite meals and finicky presentation. Style is great, but we want substance too.
Luckily for us, Steak Restaurant gives us exactly that.
After mulling over the menu with a masterfully mixed Grey Goose Martini ($11.95) in hand, the bevy of substantial selections wowed us.
Starting off with a duo of appetizers, we were amazed by the sheer quantity of food. The Shrimp Cocktail ($14.95) featured fresh jumbo shrimps that were as huge as they were succulent. Tucking into Scallops Rockefeller ($12.95) was another delicious surprise: two golden scallops on a bed of spinach and drenched in buttery hollandaise. Proof positive that food can be both tasty and filling.
But at a restaurant named Steak, the main event is the meat; and here they elevate the craft to an art form. As we took our first bite of the expertly cooked Filet Mignon ($32.95), we were amazed by its moistness and full flavour—not to mention that it was cooked perfectly to order. And after helping ourselves to generous portions of creamy Garlic Mashed Potatoes ($4.95) and Sautéed Rappini ($4.95) sides, we wondered why we ever settled for teaspoons of the stuff. Finishing off with a slice of deluxe New York Cheesecake ($6.95), our tummies were full and our taste buds happy.
Which just goes to show: we can have our steak and eat it too.
