Working It At L’Ouvrier
l’ouvrier opens on dundas westToronto
(Nov.08.11)

We’re a hardworking bunch in this city.
Maybe that’s why L’Ouvrier resonates so strongly with us. The newly opened Dundas West resto is named for a George Orwell line that refers to the cook as “un ouvrier” (that’s “worker” to non-French-speaking folk), and the spot is already hopping.
The incredible food might have something to do with that. We opted for the six-course tasting menu ($50/person); standouts include the flavourful hot and sour soup with chicken dumplings and the juicy steak with pan-fried gnocchi. It would be a crime not to mention the delightful Eton mess (strawberries, cream and meringue, oh my) we dug into for a sweet finish.
After all, hard work should be rewarded, n’est-ce pas?
