For the most part, we consider ourselves good girls, but sometimes, just sometimes, we want to be really, really naughty.
Qortezan, the 15-year-long dream of Edie Orenstein of Granville Island institution Edie Hats, is a temple of risqué, unabashed items for the sensual life.
The mature, re-invented and more confident Yaletown incarnation of the now-closed, West End-located Tart, this new boutique looks like a lavish stage, lit by chandeliers and decorated with birdcage and boudoir props (a perfect backdrop for Orenstein’s plan to host live music and fashion events in the future).
Carrying a carefully selected collection of luxurious wares, Qortezan has ultra-feminine, Montreal-based Blush lingerie (from $25 - $50), delicious-smelling Rendezvous soy candles (from $20 - $30) and what Orenstein refers to as iconic elements in a woman’s wardrobe: the little black dress, classic white shirts and quality leather boots and handbags. Bugatchi Uomo men’s shirts from Italy (from $150 - $230) sit next to a discreet display of luxury adult toys by JimmyJane (from $69 - $230) and, of course, there are scores of hats to choose from.
There’s nothing wrong with a little good girl gone bad.
