Off the Cuff

So your summer tan is fading, your elbows could use a vigorous salt scrub, and your triceps are… what triceps? Okay, we’ll admit it: We left our arm-related primping routine back at the entrance to the patio stairs. Was that really three months ago? Gosh darn it.
Now here’s our best explanation for what happened: We discovered the cuffs ($45 - $60) and rings ($30 - $40) by BPA Metalcraft and figured all eyes would be going to them, not the flab that’s taken over on our arms where firmness once was. Designed by local metalsmith Brendalyn Avender, whose training and 10 years of experience have taken her to Japan, New Mexico and Africa, the electroplated (read: powder-coated, then set) brass and copper pieces are bright, candy-coloured takes on traditional arm jewellery.
We wrangled our wrists into the flexible-yet-strong deer cuff in blue, then tried on a black piece from fall’s anchor collection, complete with matching ring. Finally, eyeing the new peas, roses, jellyfish, and lovebirds pieces, we gave in and just tried them all.
Bicep, schmicep.
