We’ve already started to plan the ultimate winter getaway. Now if only we could find the perfect beach-worthy bag to take with us.

Tall order? Not if we look to dutzi design inc. The handbag workshop in Yucatan, Mexico – created by former fashion editor Ariane Dutzi – provides not only fair wages, but also a place where women can work together and learn entrepreneurship, bringing commerce back to the region.

Dutzi provides all the materials, then teaches her employees how to make the bags. We’ve flipped for the 90 per cent recycled clutches, purses and tote bags (US $18-$995) made from vintage burlap and white raffia.  (For such a good cause, we can’t stop at just one.)
A bag that’s chic, eco-friendly and creates change? All aboard.
