Emma's Winter Style Survival Kit

tales from the pit: 6 winter must-havescanada (Jan.09.12)

Emma's personal style is pretty casual but with clothes this cool, she could go anywhere.

As soon as the mercury dips below 5 degrees, all my skirts and dresses are relegated to the back of the closet; no tights are thick enough to truly protect my legs from that now ever-present wind-chill factor.

Shoes without treads, coats without hoods and scarves without cashmere are all given the same treatment. But looking cool when it's this cold outside is certainly a challenge — or rather, it was a challenge.

To avoid looking like a marshmallow (while keeping toasty), I've created my ultimate winter-wardrobe shopping list. With some fleece-lined jeans, a soft twill shirt and a faux-fur Dr. Zhivago cap, Winter's icy grip won't be able to lay a finger on me. Smart fashion wins again!
