Quick show of hands How many of you made a cross-border shopping trip to scoop up hot pieces from the Jason Wu for Target collection? I wouldn't blame you one bit for trekking down to the States and braving the crowds. All those quirkily elegant skirts, dresses, tops, bags and scarves at super-cheap Target prices? Totally worth the mileage. But if (like me) you missed out the first time around — the collection sold out in stores across the U.S. almost immediately — you'll get a second chance tomorrow, if you live in or around Toronto.
For one day only, Target is setting up a pop-up shop at 363 King St. West. Doors open to the public at noon, so get there early for a shot at the 2,500 pieces that will be for sale (prices range from $10-$45). There will be a three-item maximum, which is good news for anyone who experienced vicarious frustration watching this video of a couple buying out the entire Jason Wu for Target stock at a Miami store:
My only problem will be narrowing it down to only three pieces. The navy poplin dress (top left, $35) is pretty adorable, but that red-pleated cap-sleeved blouse (top right, $20, shown with a long-sleeved pointelle sweater, $35, and pleated navy floral skirt, $20), is also calling my name.
I'm equally enamoured with the gold textured pleated-front peplum top (above left, $20, shown with a black pleated skirt, $20) and the sexy black trench coat (above right, $45, shown with a black flared dress, $35).
And though I tend to shy away from cat prints (I have two kitties at home and I'm trying to ward off the crazy-cat-lady connotations), I've fallen hard for this incredibly charming feline-print scarf ($10). Oh, to hell with it. I need that scarf.
To make a sweet deal even sweeter, 100 per cent of the sales from the pop-up shop will be donated to United Way Toronto. So what are you waiting for? Wallets at the ready, ladies.
